Meet James Stanistreet - Founder of Australian Agroforestry Solutions

Driven by a childhood fascination with science, plants, and mycology, James Stanistreet has cultivated a lifelong passion for ecological and biological systems. Holding a BSc. in Biology, his journey into sustainable practices began with overseeing an urban farm in Lismore, Northern New South Wales, during his academic years.

Academic and Professional Path:

BSc. in Biology
Grounded in scientific knowledge, James honed his skills through formal education, earning a degree in biology. This academic foundation laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.
Forestry Apprenticeship James deepened his understanding of forestry under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin Glencross during a three-year apprenticeship, gaining valuable insights into sustainable forestry practices.
Agroecology Training Determined to broaden his expertise, James pursued Agroecology training, completing both standard and advanced levels at "The Farm" in Byron Bay.

Founding Australian Agroforestry Solutions:

Fueled by a commitment to sustainability on a small scale, James established Australian Agroforestry Solutions. The mission? To empower communities in building local edible and timber food systems, leading the charge in regenerative forestry.

I am a dedicated professional with a passion for growing food, planting trees, and creating resilient, regenerative, and productive landscapes. My qualifications and experience reflect my commitment to this field:

- Certificate III in Permaculture

- 3 years of experience in market gardening

- Bachelor of Environmental Science

- Completed various short courses on Syntropic Agroforestry

My journey in permaculture has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to integrate food growing and biodiversity, using indigenous plants and creating diverse ecosystems. I am inspired by the concept of food forests and orchards, as they represent sustainable and resilient systems with the potential for high yields.

I am dedicated to applying my expertise to design and build landscapes that repair the environment, following the principles of regenerative design. My goal is to contribute to the establishment of successful food forests, drawing from global projects and best practices.
